Space is not merely a physical setting for human activities. It is continuously shaped and redefined through everyday practices, social interactions, collective memories and individual experiences. Understanding these relationships requires moving beyond conventional design processes and recognizing the people who inhabit a place as active contributors to its transformation.
At INIS STUDIO, we approach participation as an integral part of spatial design rather than a supplementary consultation process. Through dialogue, observation, workshops and collaborative experimentation, we bring together different perspectives, experiences and forms of knowledge. The objective is not necessarily to achieve consensus, but to reveal shared aspirations, negotiate differences and explore possibilities that might otherwise remain undiscovered.
Participatory design is not about transferring the responsibility of design, but about expanding its possibilities. Architectural thinking provides the framework through which diverse contributions can be interpreted, connected and translated into coherent spatial proposals. In this process, design becomes both a means of collective exploration and an instrument of social engagement, creating places that people can recognize, appropriate and enjoy.
We collaborate with municipalities, public institutions, research organizations and communities to develop participatory processes that connect local knowledge with architectural and urban design expertise.
